• When to Travel

  Each season offers a different experience. European spring (March-May) bursts with pure greenery. Summer brings hot days and warm, long evenings; autumn brings wonderful colours; and winter brings the fairytale landscape of Christmas markets.

• Local Flavours

  Pierogi, Polish dumplings, are a must. In Slovakia, try the potato dumplings with sheep cheese and bacon (Bryndzové halušky). Austria’s Wiener Schnitzel, breaded veal cutlet, is absolutely scrumptious. In Hungary, try Paprikás (paprika stew with chicken) and the famous chimney cake.

• Insider Advice

  Never confuse the names of the countries Slovakia and Slovenia! Especially in the presence of their inhabitants. The difference is as big as between Austria and Australia. It’s also a good idea to read up on each destination’s culture and customs before your trip and familiarize yourself with the differences.

• Must-Do Experiences

  Budapest, with the wide Danube flowing through it, is especially beautiful at night. The market square in Krakow, where there are as many pigeons as tourists! Then, the stunning Alpine landscapes around Salzburg. And of course, the slide from the clock tower in Graz, where we play like children.
